Overview

Gold is a Legendary-rarity crop mutation in Grow a Garden 2 with a 10x Sheckles multiplier on sell value at harvest. It is one of the most accessible high-tier mutations because there are three independent sources: planting a Gold Seed (boosts the chance of getting Gold on the resulting crop), random chance during standard gameplay (1% on harvest / 0.1% during growth), and the Goldmoon night weather event.

Unlike most environmental mutations, Gold can be obtained during the growth phase -- not only at harvest. The 10x figure is taken from the current GAG2 mutation table as of June 2026.

Single-harvest crops get reduced mutation value. The game scales mutation multipliers down on single-harvest plants like Bamboo, Carrot, and Tulip. The formula is `1 + (multiplier - 1) * 0.15`, so Gold on a single-harvest crop is effectively 2.35x instead of the full 10x. Multi-harvest crops like Strawberry and Apple get the full 10x. This is confirmed from the calculator game-code analysis (singleHarvestMutationScale = 0.15).

Gold FAQ

What does the Gold mutation do in Grow a Garden 2?

Gold multiplies a crop's sell value by 10x at harvest. It can be applied by planting a Gold Seed, by random chance during normal gameplay (1% harvest / 0.1% growth), or during the Goldmoon weather event.

How do you get the Gold mutation in gag2?

Three ways: plant a Gold Seed (boosted Gold chance), wait for random rolls during normal gameplay (1% harvest, 0.1% growth), or play during the Goldmoon weather event. Gold is one of the few mutations that can also apply during the growth phase.

Gold mutation gag 2 — how much is it worth?

Gold applies a 10x multiplier to a crop's base Sheckle value per the current GAG2 mutation table (June 2026). Use the calculator page for exact sell prices.

Does Gold work differently on single-harvest crops like Bamboo?

Yes. Single-harvest crops get reduced mutation value. Gold on a single-harvest crop is effectively 2.35x instead of 10x. The formula is 1 + (multiplier - 1) * 0.15. Multi-harvest crops like Strawberry get the full 10x. This is why mutated multi-harvest crops can be more profitable per mutation than single-harvest ones.
