Grow a Garden 2 Private Server Guide — Is It Free and How to Get One
Private server pricing — unconfirmed at launch
We are verifying this in-game now. Check the Servers tab on the Roblox game page for the official price. This page will be updated as soon as we can confirm.
UnverifiedAre Private Servers Free in Grow a Garden 2?
This is unknown as of launch day and is the highest-priority verification item for this wiki. Three outcomes are all plausible:
| Scenario | Notes |
|---|---|
| Free for everyone | Same as GAG1. Players can avoid all stealing with no Robux cost. Less revenue for the developers from players wanting safe farming. |
| Free with Roblox Premium | Standard Roblox behavior. Players with Premium always get one free private server unless the developer disables it. Non-Premium players would pay Robux. |
| Paid Robux for everyone | Comparable to Steal a Brainrot, which uses paid private servers specifically to keep players in public matchmaking where stealing is possible. |
The outcome affects whether safe AFK farming requires a Robux spend. Update this page immediately once confirmed.
The case for paid private servers in GAG2 is stronger than in GAG1. The developers have designed the entire game loop around the tension between public-server thieves and defenders. Making private servers free would let every player simply bypass the PvP mechanic at no cost — which is why the community expects GAG2 private servers to cost Robux or require Premium. However, the developers have not stated this officially.
To verify right now: open the Roblox game page for Grow a Garden 2, go to the Servers tab, and look for the "Create Private Server" button. The price shown (or "Free") is the confirmed answer.
How to Create a Private Server in GAG2
Creating a private server in Roblox is done from the game page, not from inside the game itself. The standard process — which applies to most Roblox games including GAG1 — is:
- Open the Grow a Garden 2 game page on Roblox.
- Scroll down to the Servers section and look for a "Create Private Server" button.
- If the server is paid, you will see the Robux cost. If it is free for Premium members, the button will show as free if you are subscribed.
- After creating the server, you receive a private link you can share with people you want to invite.
This process is based on standard Roblox private server mechanics. GAG2-specific steps will be confirmed at launch.
Private Server vs Public Server for Farming
The practical difference between server types depends entirely on your goals:
| Feature | Public Server | Private Server |
|---|---|---|
| Night-phase theft risk | Yes — any player can raid | No — invite-only |
| Offline crop safety | At risk during every night cycle | Safe if server stays active |
| Mutations and weather | Normal | Expected normal (GAG1 precedent) |
| Guild cooperation | Full access | Limited to invited members only |
| Cost | Free | TBA — confirm at launch |
AFK Farming Safety in Private Servers
AFK (away-from-keyboard) farming — leaving the game running overnight with crops growing and sprinklers active — is confirmed to work in GAG2. Crops grow offline and can accumulate mutations while you are away.
The problem: on a public server, every night cycle that passes while you are AFK is a theft window. A highly mutated crop left undefended is a prime target. If private servers cost Robux, the question becomes whether the extra safety is worth the ongoing cost.
If you plan to AFK farm in a public server, the minimum you need before going offline:
- Fence perimeter + owner door (see the Defense Guide)
- At least one Venus Flytrap near your crops
- Gnome pet active if you have one (based on pre-release leaks, it acts autonomously) Leaked info
A private server eliminates all of this risk entirely — at the cost of (potentially) Robux.
Context: GAG1 and Steal a Brainrot Private Server Models
Two games provide useful comparison:
Grow a Garden 1 has free private servers. Players can farm entirely alone or with friends at no extra cost. The stealing mechanic in GAG1 required Robux, so the free private server was not undermining the monetization model.
Steal a Brainrot (a Roblox game with a similar steal mechanic that GAG2 draws inspiration from in its defense system) uses paid private servers. The design logic: if stealing is the core mechanic and it is free, charging for private servers incentivizes players to engage with the public-server PvP rather than opting out.
GAG2 is closer to Steal a Brainrot in design philosophy than to GAG1, which is why the community expects paid private servers. But this is inference, not a developer statement.
