How to Get Mutations in GAG2

Mutations come from weather events (Blood Moon, Lightning Storm, Snowfall, Starfall, Aurora, Rainbow Weather), pets (Unicorn raises Rainbow chance, Golden Dragonfly raises Gold chance), and special seeds. Most players focus on weather events as the most reliable way to apply high-value mutations. Only one mutation can be active on a plant at a time -- mutations do not stack.

Single-Harvest Mutation Scaling

Single-harvest crops (like Bamboo, Carrot, and Tulip) receive mutation multipliers at reduced strength. The game applies a scaling factor of 0.15 to the mutation bonus above 1x. Multi-harvest crops (like Strawberry and Apple) get the full mutation multiplier.

Formula: effective multiplier = 1 + (nominal multiplier - 1) * 0.15. Confirmed from calculator game-code analysis (singleHarvestMutationScale = 0.15).

GAG2 Mutations FAQ — gag 2 mutations answered

What are all the mutations in gag2 / Grow a Garden 2?
GAG2 currently has 17 documented mutations, including Bloodlit, Starstruck, Aurora, Rainbow, Electric, Frozen, and Gold. Each one multiplies a crop's sell value by a different amount. The full list with multipliers and triggers is on this page.
Which gag 2 mutation gives the highest multiplier?
Bloodlit has the highest confirmed multiplier at 70x, followed by Ignited at 60x, Starstruck at 50x and Aurora at 40x. These figures are from official gag.gg developer data, verified in-game.
How do mutations work in gag 2?
A mutation is applied to a crop while it grows and multiplies its sell value when you harvest it. Mutations come from weather events, pets, or special seeds. Only one mutation can be active on a single plant at a time -- they do not stack. The mutation multiplier combines with the crop's weight to determine the final sell value.
How do I get a specific gag2 mutation?
Most mutations come from weather events: Blood Moon applies Bloodlit, Lightning Storm applies Electric, Snowfall applies Frozen, Starfall applies Starstruck, Aurora event applies Aurora, and Rainbow Weather applies Rainbow. Some pets raise mutation chance -- Unicorn doubles Rainbow chance and Golden Dragonfly doubles Gold chance. Open any mutation page to see its current trigger.
What does the Gold mutation do in Grow a Garden 2?
Gold applies a 10x multiplier to a crop's sell value per the current GAG2 mutation table. On single-harvest crops like Bamboo the effective multiplier drops to 2.35x due to the single-harvest scaling mechanic.
Do mutations stack in gag 2?
No. Mutations do not stack on the same plant. Only one mutation can be active at a time, confirmed by the calculator author. If a new mutation applies while one is already active, it replaces the existing one.
Do mutations work differently on single-harvest crops?
Yes. Single-harvest crops (Bamboo, Carrot, Tulip, etc.) get mutation multipliers at reduced strength. The formula is: effective multiplier = 1 + (nominal - 1) * 0.15. For example, Bloodlit 70x becomes 11.35x on single-harvest crops. Multi-harvest crops like Strawberry and Apple get the full multiplier.
