Gnome in Grow a Garden 2
Field notes
What we know about Gnome
Gnome is one of five confirmed launch pets in Grow a Garden 2 and is the primary defensive pet in the stealing meta. Multiple pre-release leaks describe it as an autonomous sentry that kills players caught stealing from your garden. In Grow a Garden 1, Gnome was not a pet at all but rather a cosmetic item that applied the "Gnomed" mutation to a random plant. The GAG2 Gnome is a completely redesigned active combat pet with no GAG1 functional equivalent. Whether the Gnome triggers on all players who enter the garden or only those who interact with crops is one of the most important balance questions at launch. If it triggers on all entrants it could accidentally kill players who visit without stealing intent. Kill range, animation, cooldown, and whether it can be defeated or avoided by a player using an Invisibility Mushroom or Shrink Mushroom are all unknown. Egg source, hatch rate, and Robux price require in-game verification.
Active role
What does the Gnome pet do?
Gnome kills or attacks players who are caught stealing from the owner's garden, acting as an autonomous sentry. Multiple pre-release leaks describe it as killing players caught stealing. Kill range, cooldown, whether it triggers on all players who enter or only those interacting with crops, and whether it operates while the owner is offline are all unknown and require in-game verification. In Grow a Garden 1, Gnome was a cosmetic item that applied a mutation to plants; the GAG2 Gnome is a completely different active combat pet.
Hatch source
How to get the Gnome pet
Gnome is expected to come from the egg system, but the exact egg, price, and hatch rate are not confirmed yet.
Strategy
Best use for Gnome
This pet is currently categorized as a defender pet. Build around the confirmed parts of its ability and avoid spending Robux or rare eggs based only on leaked cooldowns, hatch rates, or offline behavior.
