Raccoon in Grow a Garden 2
Field notes
What we know about Raccoon
Raccoon is one of five confirmed launch pets in Grow a Garden 2 and is the primary offensive pet in the stealing meta. Developer footage showed multiple raccoons entering another player's garden and stealing crops simultaneously. In Grow a Garden 1, raccoon was a Divine rarity pet obtained from Night Egg (0.1 percent chance) or Exotic Night Egg (1 percent chance). Its GAG1 "Rascal" ability duplicated a random crop from another plot every approximately 15 minutes, which caused a notorious economy-breaking exploit that was later patched by the developers. In GAG2, raccoon is expected to perform an actual steal rather than duplication, consistent with the game's free-stealing design. Whether raccoon operates autonomously while the owner is offline, whether it can be killed by a Gnome pet or combat plants, its hatch rate, egg source, and Robux price all require in-game verification. Community anxiety about the raccoon's duplication history is high; the developers are expected to have learned from the GAG1 experience.
Active role
What does the Raccoon pet do?
Raccoon autonomously steals crops from nearby gardens, assisting the player as an offensive pet. Developer footage showed multiple raccoons simultaneously raiding a garden and taking crops. Whether the raccoon operates while the owner is offline, whether it duplicates crops or physically carries them, and any cooldown on stealing are all unknown and require in-game verification. In Grow a Garden 1, the raccoon caused an economy-breaking duplication exploit that was later patched. GAG2 is expected to use an actual steal mechanic rather than duplication.
Hatch source
How to get the Raccoon pet
Raccoon is expected to come from the egg system, but the exact egg, price, and hatch rate are not confirmed yet.
Strategy
Best use for Raccoon
This pet is currently categorized as a thief pet. Build around the confirmed parts of its ability and avoid spending Robux or rare eggs based only on leaked cooldowns, hatch rates, or offline behavior.
