Grow a Garden 2 Plant Weights

Every crop in Grow a Garden 2 has a base weight that determines its range. The game rolls a weight band (6 tiers, 0.85x to 17.5x of base) on each harvest, influenced by your size luck from sprinklers. The normal cap is base * 17.5. Past the cap, lucky doubles can chain -- each one doubles the weight with a 5% chance at max size luck.

Weight Bands

Every harvest rolls one of six weight bands. The multiplier range is applied to the crop's base weight. Higher size luck (from sprinklers) shifts the distribution toward heavier bands.

Data from growagardencalculator.com game-code analysis (gag2-data.js). Lucky double columns assume the crop starts at normal cap and chains at max 5% double chance.

Lucky Double Chain

At max size luck (100), each harvest has a 5% chance to trigger a lucky double. If triggered, the weight doubles and the game rolls again -- the chain continues as long as you keep hitting the 5%. The odds stack multiplicatively, making long chains extremely rare.

DoublesMultiplierChanceOdds
1 doublex25%1 in 20
2 doublesx40.25%1 in 400

4 doublesx160.000625%1 in 160,000
5 doublesx320.00003125%1 in 3.2M

These odds assume max size luck (100 from sprinklers, 5% base double chance). At lower luck the double chance is lower and chains become even rarer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What determines a plant's weight in Grow a Garden 2?
Each crop has a base weight. When you harvest, the game picks a weight band (6 tiers from 0.85x to 17.5x of base weight). Higher size luck from sprinklers means better bands more often. The normal weight cap is base * 17.5. Lucky doubles can push past the cap.
What is the normal weight cap in GAG2?
The normal cap is the base weight multiplied by 17.5 (the top of band 6). For example, Bamboo with a 5kg base has a normal cap of 87.5kg. Lucky doubles can exceed this cap by doubling the weight 2x, 4x, 8x and beyond.
How do lucky doubles work in Grow a Garden 2?
When your size luck is high (up to 100 from sprinklers), you have up to a 5% chance for a lucky double on each harvest. A lucky double doubles the crop weight. The double can chain -- each chain has a 5% chance of doubling again, so odds drop fast: 1 in 20 for one double, 1 in 400 for two, 1 in 8,000 for three.
Which crop has the highest weight potential in GAG2?
Moon Bloom and Venom Spitter both have a 9kg base weight and a 157.5kg normal cap -- the highest in the game. With lucky doubles they can exceed 1,000kg, though the odds are extremely rare (1 in 160,000 for four consecutive doubles).
Does weight affect sell price in Grow a Garden 2?
Yes. Sell price scales with weight using the formula: value = max(floor, sellValue * (weight / baseWeight) ^ exponent). Heavier crops sell for dramatically more Sheckles. A crop at the 17.5x normal cap sells for far more than a base-weight crop.
How does size luck affect weight bands?
Size luck (0-100, from sprinklers) controls how often you land in higher weight bands. At 0 luck most harvests land in band 1 (0.85x-1.15x). At 100 luck the distribution shifts: band 4 (Huge, 6.5x-7.5x) becomes the most common at 31%, and you have a 3.82% chance of band 6 (Mega, 14.5x-17.5x).
