Sprinklers & Size Luck Guide
Every sprinkler tier compared
There are five sprinkler tiers in Grow a Garden 2. Each one boosts three things: growth speed (how fast crops finish growing), size luck (how heavy they get), and radius (how many plants it reaches). All sprinklers last 2 minutes. Buy them from the Gear Shop when they restock.

How size luck works
Size luck is a number from 0 to 100 that determines two things: which weight band your crop lands in, and your lucky-double chance. Every sprinkler within range of your plant adds its luck value. These stack additively -- a Rare (+40) and Legendary (+65) together give 105, but the game caps it at 100.
Without any sprinkler your size luck is 0, giving just a 1% double chance and mostly Normal-weight harvests. At 100 luck every harvest has a 5% double chance and a real shot at landing in the heaviest weight bands.
Weight bands -- why heavier = richer
When you harvest a crop, the game rolls it into one of six weight bands. Each band multiplies the crop's base weight. The higher your size luck, the more likely your crop upgrades through the bands toward Colossal. Heavier crops sell for dramatically more Sheckles because the sell-price formula scales with weight squared.
At 100 size luck, each band has a chance to upgrade to the next. A crop that passes all checks lands in Colossal (14.5x–17.5x base weight). If it passes even Colossal, it gets a lucky double.
Lucky doubles -- the jackpot roll
A lucky double happens when your crop passes even the Colossal band check. Instead of stopping, the game doubles your harvest weight. Multiple lucky doubles can chain -- a double-double means 4x the Colossal weight. The chance depends entirely on your size luck:
At 0 luck you have a 1% chance per harvest. At 100 luck it is 5% -- five times more likely. That is why hitting the luck cap matters so much: over hundreds of harvests, the extra doubles add up to a huge Sheckle difference.
Sprinkler stacking examples
Sprinklers can stack until the setup reaches 100 size luck. Once capped, extra size luck does not raise the double chance further.
| Setup | Size luck | Double % | Odds | Cap? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No sprinkler | 0 | ~1% | 1 in 100 | No |
| 1 Common | 7 | ~1.24% | 1 in 81 | No |
| 2 Common | 14 | ~1.53% | 1 in 66 | No |
| 3 Common | 21 | ~1.81% | 1 in 55 | No |
| 1 Uncommon | 21 | ~1.81% | 1 in 55 | No |
| Common + Uncommon | 28 | ~2.09% | 1 in 48 | No |
| 1 Rare | 40 | ~2.58% | 1 in 39 | No |
| 2 Uncommon | 42 | ~2.66% | 1 in 38 | No |
| 3 Uncommon | 63 | ~3.51% | 1 in 28 | No |
| 1 Legendary | 65 | ~3.59% | 1 in 28 | No |
| 2 Rare | 80 | ~4.19% | 1 in 24 | No |
| Rare + Legendary | 100 | ~5% | 1 in 20 | Yes |
| 1 Super | 100 | ~5% | 1 in 20 | Yes |
| Super + anything | 100 | ~5% | 1 in 20 | Yes |
Best sprinkler combos
You do not need a Super Sprinkler to max out your luck. Because luck stacks from all sprinklers in range, you can hit the 100 cap with cheaper combos. Here are the three most common setups:
Most popular combo. Same 5% double chance as Super, much cheaper.
Hits the cap alone. Convenience pick if you find one in stock.
Same luck as one Uncommon, but 2x growth instead of 1.5x per sprinkler.
Consecutive doubles at cap
Lucky plants can roll more than one weight double, but each extra double has to hit again. This is why huge weights get rare fast.
| Consecutive doubles | Weight | Chance at cap | Approx odds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | x2 | 5% | 1 in 20 |
| 2 | x4 | 0.25% | 1 in 400 |
| 3 | x8 | 0.0125% | 1 in 8,000 |
| 4 | x16 | 0.000625% | 1 in 160,000 |
| 5 | x32 | 0.00003125% | 1 in 3.2 million |
Watering cans
Watering cans are separate from sprinkler size luck. They speed growth briefly and can clear fruit decay from normal plants.
Watering decayed normal plants restores their color and value, including connected fruits on the plant. It usually takes 1–3 watering cans to fully heal decay. If a mutation hits while the plant is decayed, sell-value decay resets to fresh even when the crop still looks decayed visually.
Tips for getting the most out of sprinklers
Plant all your crops close together so one sprinkler covers them all. Check the radius -- Common covers 20 studs, Super covers 55.
Sprinklers last 2 minutes. Plant your seeds first, then place the sprinkler so you do not waste any of the timer.
Size luck only matters at harvest time. If a sprinkler expires before your crop is ready, the luck bonus is gone.
Sprinklers do NOT increase mutation chance. Mutations come from weather events. But faster growth from sprinklers means more harvests during a weather window.
Use a private server (free in GAG2) so nobody steals your heavy crops while you farm. See the Private Server guide for setup.
The Rare + Legendary combo (80K + 1.2M Sheckles) is the sweet spot for most players. It hits the 100 luck cap and is much easier to find in stock than Super Sprinkler.
