How to Defend Your Garden in Grow a Garden 2
How do you stop people from stealing your crops in GAG2?
The fastest free defense is to stand inside your garden during night — while you are physically inside your garden's boundary, it is locked and no one can steal from you. This is the only 100% guaranteed defense, but it requires you to be online. For offline protection, you need layered defenses: (1) Fence Crate to create a perimeter, (2) Owner Door Crate so thieves need a Door Crowbar to enter, (3) Bear Trap Crates placed inside near your crops, and (4) **a defensive plant like Venus Flytrap at the entrance**. Gnome pet (95 Robux) kills any thief who enters your garden automatically.
How do fences and the Owner Door work in GAG2?
Fences from the Fence Crate create a physical barrier around your garden. By default, your garden has no wall — fences must be purchased and built. The Owner Door Crate adds a door that only you can open from the outside. Thieves need a Door Crowbar (a purchasable consumable) to break through your Owner Door. A fully fenced garden with an Owner Door means a thief must spend Robux or sheckles on a crowbar just to enter — this stops casual thieves immediately. Make sure your fence has no gaps, because thieves with a Shrink Mushroom can squeeze through small openings.
Which defensive plants are worth using?
**Venus Flytrap (Mythic):** Confirmed in the official trailer — it eats players who enter your garden. It kills the thief entirely. Available from the seed shop when in rotation (buyRobux price ~799 R$). **Dragon's Breath (Super):** Fires projectiles at intruders. Strongest defensive plant but costs ~1,499 Robux per seed. Not realistic for free-to-play players. **Moon Bloom (Super):** Causes low gravity on intruders, disorienting them. Also ~1,349 Robux. For free-to-play players, Venus Flytrap is the best affordable autonomous defense plant when it appears in the seed shop.
What does the Gnome pet do for defense?
The **Gnome pet** (costs 95 Robux) is confirmed to kill thieves who enter your garden. It acts as an autonomous sentry — you do not need to be online or watching. Multiple post-launch sources confirm gnomes attack and kill intruding players. The Gnome can also appear as a gear item in the gear shop for Robux, making it one of the most cost-effective defenses for players willing to spend a small amount. See the [Gnome pet page](/pets/gnome/) for details.
What can thieves do to get past your defenses?
Thieves have several tools to counter your defenses: **Jump Mushroom** lets them leap over your fence. **Shrink Mushroom** lets them fit through narrow fence gaps. **Door Crowbar** breaks through your Owner Door. **Vine Wrapper** (game pass) lets them grab and fling you away. **Invisibility Mushroom** hides them from visual detection. **Rainbow Carpet** (game pass) lets them fly over everything. To counter these: make sure your fence has no gaps (defeats Shrink Mushroom), place Bear Traps and Venus Flytrap inside the perimeter (catches anyone who jumps over), and use a Gnome pet for autonomous killing. No single defense stops everything — layered defense is the answer.
